Rystad: Energy transition projects could replace 40% of oilfield service revenues

Hit by the Covid-19 downturn, the oilfield service market is not likely to rebound to last year’s activity level until 2023 according to a Rystad Energy analysis. However, suppliers could diversify some oil and gas capabilities and replace up to 40% of 2019’s revenue by servicing the renewable markets. Rystad Energy analyzed the activity of the top 50 oil and gas suppliers, which together earned $220 billion in upstream revenue in 2019, $100 billion of which originated from well services and commodities. Many services provided by well-focused suppliers will be challenging to deploy in the context of energy transition operations, especially fracking services, OCTG and drilling services and tools. The Polish PV market is booming. Poland even turned out to be a solar surprise in 2019 and ranked 5th among the EU countries with the largest PV capacities that were connected to the grid in 2019 The positive development continues. According to PSE data and as of 1/05/2020, the installed capacity from solar farms was 1832.7 MW. This means that 137.35 MW arrived in April and 4.58 MW was installed daily. This is an increase of 181.42 percent year on year. However, throughout April 2020, the increase in photovoltaic plant capacity was 8.1 percent compared to March 2020. Manufacturing of PV in Europe is feasible without subsidies

A new study shows the ecological and economic feasibility of photovoltaic production in Europe. The required expansion of photovoltaic capacity in Europe means an attractive market volume. Arguments that photovoltaic products "Made in Europe" do not pay off economically are no facts set in stone. On the contrary: a joint study by VDMA Photovoltaic Equipment (Germany) and Fraunhofer ISE shows that the production of photovoltaic in Europe is ecologically and above all economically feasible without subsidies. New campaign calls for all new homes in 10 states to be built with solar panels

The hybrid thermo-photovoltaic leading company In January 2020, California became the first state to require all new houses to be built with solar panels. Today, Environment America is launching a first-of-its-kind campaign calling on states across the country to set similar standards for solar power on new homes. The campaign will advocate for a solar homes’ requirement in at least ten states: Colorado, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Texas. While each state may have slightly different goals, the campaign’s intention is to introduce bills in 10 states in the next two years. Statkraft seals deal to secure power from York solar-battery farm

Norwegian firm agrees deal with council-owned Warrington Renewables to buy power generated by co-located solar and battery facility Statkraft has agreed to directly purchase electricity from a co-located 35MW solar farm and 27MWh battery storage facility in York, after signing a power purchase agreement with Warrington Borough Council's wholly-owned clean energy company. Announced yesterday, the deal will see the Norwegian state-owned energy firm purchase all of the power generated by the hybrid solar-battery project, which is owned and operated by the council via Warrington Renewables Ltd. Statkraft described the utility-scale solar park - which was completed late last year - as one of the UK's most technically-advanced solar projects, as it utilises technology enabling both sides of the solar panel to produce energy in order to maximise output. Australia’s latest greenhouse gas figures released on Friday show national emissions fell slightly last year. This was by no means an economy-wide effort – solar and wind energy did most of the heavy lifting. Emissions fell 0.9% last year compared to 2018. The rapid deployment of solar and wind is slashing emissions in the electricity sector, offsetting increases from all other sectors combined. Renewables (solar, wind and hydro) now comprise  26% of the mix  in the National Electricity Market. In 2023, renewables will likely pass black coal to become the largest electricity source.
